Robin Panholzer Wins the High-Low Mix at EMPC 2025

Austria’s Robin Panholzer took down the High-Low Mix at the European Mixed Poker Championship 2025 at JP Poker, defeating Slovenia’s Blaž Žerjav after a long back-and-forth heads-up battle.

“I couldn’t be happier with this,” said Panholzer. “In the morning I didn’t even want to play it, and then I decided to jump in.”

The final table was one of the toughest of the week, with Panholzer facing the likes of Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk, Blaž Žerjav, Nicolas Bokowskiand Barrie Deara lineup that collectively held more than $3.7 million in live earnings according to The Hendon Mob!

“It was really back and forth against Blaž,” he said. “It was really tough against him as well, obviously, because he’s just that guy basically. Somehow I managed to scrape through it and I’m very happy about it.”

When asked how he managed to beat one of Europe’s most successful young mixed-game players, Panholzer smiled.

“I probably just got lucky, to be honest. Got the cards at the right time — that’s kind of what matters.”

Panholzer praised the atmosphere around the European Mixed Poker Championship.

“How could you not come? The community is amazing, and it’s fantastic to be here every year.”

He also had a message for players who haven’t yet tried mixed games.

“It’s a lot of fun. You can’t go wrong with trying something new — just give it a try and see if it’s for you.”

The Austrian will stay in Dublin to take part in more events throughout the week — even if his broken glasses, as he joked, might not survive that long.

“I kind of broke them last night, which wasn’t great, but it is what it is. They still do the job.”
